LIU XIAOBO

 We have done a team work about the last ten years' Novel Prize winners. After that, the teacher asked us to choose a winner to do an article about him or her. We decided to do an article about Liu Xiaobo because he won the Peace Prize being at prison and this is the first time that it has happened.


Liu Xiaobo is a Chinese literary critic, writer, teacher and human rights activist. Nowadays he is in prision since 2008 because he asked democratic reforms to the Chinese goverment.
He became globally famous when he was awarded the Peace Nobel Prize. They gave him this prize for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.
The Chinese goverment has his wife in house arrest. "She is not accused of anything but she cannot leave her house" said the ONG pro human rights freedom now.

There are different opinions about presenting the award to him. Some people think that it is not a good idea to give a peace prize to a prisioner and they say that this causes doubt about the credibility of the prize. They also say that thay are questioning the judicia authority of the Chinese goverment.

From our point of view, we think that this man deserves the prize that he won because he is fighting for human rights in China. He is a good model to follow.
